IOL and Phakic IOL Lens Implantation

The VuMax Ultrasound Biomicroscope provides a critical tool in the pre- and post-operative evaluation of lens implantation procedures. Important factors such as sulcus-to-sulcus distance, lens thickness, sulcus anatomy, ciliary body size and shape, and other anatomical characteristics are discernable in high detail to assist in determination of lens type, power, and design. Post-operatively, the VuMax is beneficial in allowing the surgeon to visualize lens position and interaction with the different structures of the anterior segment.

The VuMax assists surgeons in making critical decisions by providing a clear visualization of the lens, other structures, and their interaction, including anatomical assessment during eye movements.

Refractive Lens Over IOL

The introduction of phaco refractive lenses presents a wonderful option for some patients, with excellent results having been achieved when lenses are properly sized. The VuMax provides precise and accurate sulcus-to-sulcus and/or angle-to-angle measurements (depending upon which kind of phacorefractive lens is being utilized).

Sulcus-to-Sulcus Using Caliper

Make sulcus measurements with confidence since precision and accuracy are easily verified by ensuring proper alignment of image prior to measurement. The ability to capture a video clip at up to 22 frames per second, and then review each clip frame individually, facilitates obtaining properly aligned images.

Post-operatively, the VuMax can provide visualization of all critical factors, some of which cannot be seen without using high-frequency ultrasound. The VuMax clearly shows whether the haptics are properly positioned, if the lens is centered, and confirmation that the implanted lens is not in contact with any undesired structures.
