Post-Refractive A-Scans

Of emerging concern is the treatment of cataract patients who have previously undergone corneal refractive surgery (i.e. PRK, LASIK). While traditional formulas for calculating IOL powers have proven accurate and reliable over time, the formulas do not typically lend themselves to eyes which have experienced refractive correction. Eyes that have had myopic refractive procedures tend to develop hyperopia and vice versa.

As a result, formulas specifically designed for considering post-refractive cases have been developed. Two of the most prevalent are included within the PacScan and EZ-Scan A-scan models:
